New Year’s Resolution? Recycle Waste Packaging with TerraCycle

The new year beckons and as the clock strikes midnight, millions of people will say goodbye to the last 12 months to welcome in the New Year. Many people will be making New Year’s resolutions. These will range from anything from losing weight to changing career. Why not help the environment and make an easy and realistic goal like recycling more! TerraCycle saves waste from local landfill whilst raising funds for schools, charities and non-profit organisations of your choice!

TerraCycle is a recycling company that recycles waste packaging which cannot be recycled by the local council, and so ends up in local landfill. TerraCycle partners with brands such as:

*Ella’s Kitchen

*Johnson’s Baby

TerraCycle run various ‘Brigade’ programmes that enable people to recycle for free. Items include:

*Used Baby Food Pouches

*Baby Wipes Packaging

*Biscuit Wrappers

*Coffee Refill Packs

*Coffee Discs

*Mobile Phones

*Yogurt Pots

Over 500,000 people and 24,000 organisations including schools, businesses, charities and community groups such as churches, rotary clubs, choirs and youth groups, across the UK already collect with TerraCycle.  To date these nationwide collectors have helped to save over 10.5 million pieces of waste from UK landfills whilst raising over £143,000 for schools, charities and non-profit organisations!

The waste packaging is recycled into plastic products such as watering cans and garden benches, or upcycled into new products such as pencil cases or lunch bags. This means that the packaging is not only saved from being discarded, but also reduces materials need to be extracted from the earth to create new products.

You can sign up to a Brigade for free at where free postage labels can be downloaded to send in the collected waste packaging. Begin 2013 by helping the environment.
