Did you know that unsafe water claims the lives of over 3 million people each year? Many of us assume that in a civilised world access to safe water is a human right, but this is not always the case. With a growing world population the increase in water consumption rises all the time and climate change means that that the available freshwater supply is constantly decreasing.
Imagine your life without water. We are fortunate enough to be able to turn on a tap and have access to free flowing potable water that is safe to drink, wash in and cook with. We are fortunate enough to have an abundance of water with which to flush our toilets and to wash our hands in and enough to ensure that we have safe sanitation facilities.
Now imagine walking miles to find water that isn’t even safe when you reach it. Imagine having nowhere suitable to go to the toilet. What can we do to help?
Together with WaterAid we can make a difference to the lives of people who don’t have the same access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation. 750 million people are currently living without safe water, with 1 in 3 people living without a decent toilet. WaterAid works in 37 countries around the world with local partners helping to transform the lives of millions of people by improving access to safe water.
Change is desperately needed and you can help WaterAid by influencing decision-makers to make change happen and help relieve the water crisis. WaterAid believe that there needs to be strong leadership, active communities, equality, a focus on sustainability, and integration between development sectors
Watch this video and then help WaterAid make it happen by providing safe water for everyone by 2030.
